A $7.25-million renovation of the Coronado Public Library has been completed.

The project included expansion of the children's library and restoration of the 97-year-old Spreckels Building and Ramos Martinez murals. The project also included seismic retrofitting, installation of a new sprinkler system, build-out of additional public seating space for studying and tutoring, and construction of a new teen library.
Project stakeholders included Gafcon Inc. (construction manager), C.E. Wylie Construction (general contractor) and M.W. Steele Group (architect of record).
Future additions to the library include The Wizard of Oz-themed children's entry portal to be constructed of art glass and suspended from the ceiling of the children's library. The entryway will be installed in the months following the library's opening.
