Woodland Hills-based W.M. Klorman Construction has been awarded a design-build contract for construction of the 650,000-sq.-ft. Los Angeles Fashion Center on San Pedro Street in downtown Los Angeles. Completion is anticipated to occur in November 2006.

The center was designed by Los Angeles-based MIA Architects.
The project, part of a wave of redevelopment that has swept the Garment District area over the last several years, will be the largest enclosed wholesale garment mall in central Los Angeles when completed. The Los Angeles Fashion Center will provide multi-levels of centralized mercantile condo units and will offer potential tenants the opportunity to buy their space, allowing them a chance to invest in the downtown's hot real estate market.
The seven-level project includes 196 units of wholesale merchant condo space, which are located on the lower three levels. On-site parking--a rarity in the crowded and congested Garment District area--will be on the upper three levels and roof, allowing for a total of 747 cars.
