Ed Lee Mayor, City of San Francisco
Lee praised the strong federal support for the Central Subway project, which will extend the T-Third light-rail line from a Caltrain station to Chinatown. Lee said the Obama administration's proposed budget included an additional commitment of $150 million for the project. Lee thanked President Barack Obama, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer and other federal officials "for their consistent leadership and their commitment to improving public transit, creating jobs and investing in San Francisco." The project, expected to cost $1.6 billion, will include close to $1 billion in federal aid.
