The Los Angeles Womens Transportation Coalition joined three Southern California WTS chapters and the National Association of Womens Business Owners to fund $12,000 in legacy scholarships for women pursuing careers in the transportation industry. The first $3,000 scholarship was awarded at a dinner held recently at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles. Below, Lynda Bybee (right), past LAWTC president and deputy executive officer of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, presents the scholarship to Jeongwoo Lee, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Southern California. .

The Los Angeles chapter of the Womens Transportation Seminar recently hosted the new executive director of the Port of Long Beach, J. Christopher Lytle, at a luncheon meeting at the Kyoto Grand Hotel, Los Angeles. Above, welcoming Lytle (center) are, left, Rachel Vandenberg, vice president, director of intermodal transportation, AECOM, and Diane Ricard, principal at DMR Consulting and first vice president of the chapter. Lytle, who had been at his new job for only 11 days before the event, talked about future plans and projects at the port, including the $700-million replacement of the Gerald Desmond Bridge, scheduled to start in June, and other pier and operations improvements.
