Diffenbaugh Awarded Pierce College Project

J.D. Diffenbaugh, Inc. was recently awarded the Pierce College Horticulture & Animal Science Campus project located in Woodland Hills.

Diffenbaugh is the design builder on this project for the Los Angeles Community College Districtís Prop A/AA Bond Program.

Hill Partnership, Inc. out of Newport Beach is the architect.

The new $12-million Horticultural Campus encompasses approximately 26,600 sq ft of specialized classroom and laboratory facilities, as well as significant landscape and hardscape improvements to support state-of- the-art instruction in horticultural sciences.

Additionally, the design provides the opportunity for retail sales and supporting public events engaging the campus and the community it serves.

Diffenbaugh says that because of the facilitiesí role in educating students and serving the surrounding community, significant emphases was placed on the integration of sustainable features and support of exemplary sustainable practices.

The facility is designed to achieve LEED platinum certification.

Construction is expected to break ground in early 2011.
