Preston Top Grade (a joint venture with Preston Pipeline and Top Grade Construction), Sandis engineers and AECOM landscaping are working on the Welsh Rd. utility improvement project, which replaces utility services and information technology infrastructure along Welch and Quarry roads. The project also includes the widening of Welch Rd., one of the main arteries into the medical center campus, and the replacement of sidewalks, planting of new trees, installation of planted medians and street lighting.

The $3-billion Stanford University Medical Center’s “renewal” project includes expanding Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, building a new Stanford Hospital, modernizing Hoover Pavilion—the original Palo Alto Hospital—and replacing School of Medicine laboratories.

Groundbreaking for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital expansion is expected to start later this year and construction is scheduled to be completed in 2016. Groundbreaking for the new Stanford Hospital is expected to occur in early 2013 and the new hospital will be completed in 2017 with planned occupancy the following year.

DPR Construction will serve as general contractor on the Packard hospital project with Perkins + Will/HGA as architects. Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch is serving as MEP engineer.

Clark/McCarthy is contracted for pre-construction services for the new Stanford hospital project and Rafael Vinoly Architects and Lee, Burkhart, Liu are the designers.

The Hoover Pavilion project’s general contractor is Vance Brown and the architect is TEF.
