The Dept. of Veterans Affairs has set an Oct. 18 deadline for general contractor bids for its Palo Alto VA Radiology Consolidation and Parking Structure No. 2 project, estimated at $100 million. San Diego State University is requesting qualifications from design-build construction management at-risk firms for its planned Plaza Linda Verde project, estimated at $118.6 million. The project includes constructing a mixed-use student housing facility above a ground-floor retail podium. It also calls for building an adjacent parking structure configured for future retail space. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority has set an Oct. 24 deadline for prequalified firms to submit technical and price proposals for final design and construction of its Regional Connector Transit Corridor project, estimated at $1.3 billion. The project includes building 1.86 miles of light rail linking the current terminus of the Blue and Expo lines to the Gold Line via a new underground alignment in downtown Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority is requesting design-build firms to submit proposals for its Westside Subway Station, Section 1 project, estimated at $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion. The selected design-builder will provide the final design and construction of a heavy rail transit subway extension of the county's Purple Line. The 3.9-mile spur will run from the existing Wilshire/Western station to a new Wilshire/La Cienega station. It will include three new stations.
