Largest Projects at Davis Campus

UC Davis is in the midst of an $800 million capital improvement plan with major projects recently completed, underway, in design or in planning.

Projects at the Davis campus include:

  • A $95 million Genome and Biomedical Sciences Building was finished in December by Providence, R.I.-based Gilbane Co., the construction manager at risk for the project. The Sacramento office of Detroit-based SmithGroup was the architect.

  • The $78 million Robert Mondavi Institute for Food and Wine Science Center will be completed in three phases. It includes a hands-on research winery and brewery.

  • A $60 million, 164,000-sq.-ft. Veterinary Medical Building 3A and a $25 million 56,000-sq.-ft. Veterinary Medicine Instructional Facility. The Sacramento office of Flintco is the general contractor for the first building and Sacramento-based HMH is the GC for the second building. Portland, Ore.-based SRG Partnership is the architect for both structures, which will provide teaching and office space and clinical facilities for animals.

  • A $57 million, 146,000-sq.-ft. Sciences Laboratory Building completed in December. The Sacramento office of Howard S. Wright Construction was the general contractor. Portland, Ore.-based Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership was the architect. The building includes 34 teaching labs and a 500-seat general lecture hall.

  • The $34 million Tercero housing and dining complex will accommodate 400 students in apartment-style units. Woodland-based Broward Construction is the general contractor for the $20 million housing contract. The San Francisco office of Fisher-Friedman Associates is the architect. The Sacramento office of Turner Construction is the contract manager-at-risk for the $14 million, 60,000-sq.-ft. dining hall portion. San Francisco-based BAR Architects is the architect. Both projects should be finished this fall.

  • A $25 million West Entry Parking Structure. HMH is the general contractor and Redwood City-based Watry Design is the architect.

  • A $20 million mathematical sciences building scheduled for completion in late summer. Los Angeles-based AC Martin Partners is the architect and West Sacramento-based Brown Construction is the general contractor.
