AIACC Presents 2010 Firm Award to Santa Monica’s Pugh + Scarpa
At its annual at the Monterey Design Conference held earlier this month at the Asilomar Lodge in Pacific Grove, the American Institute of Architects California Council awarded the 2010 Firm Award to bicoastal, cutting-edge architecture firm, Pugh + Scarpa.
The AIACC says the award is the highest honor given by the council, and is bestowed annually to a firm that consistently produces distinguished architecture for a period of at least 10 years; contributes to the advancement of the profession; promotes continuing collaboration among individuals; produces work that transcends a specific area of expertise; and develops a culture that educates and mentors the next generation.
Pugh + Scarpa is an architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm founded in Santa Monica in 1991 and is led by three principals: Angela Brooks, Gwynne Pugh, and Lawrence Scarpa. The firm has received 48 major design awards including 13 national AIA awards, 2005 Record Houses, 2003 Record Interiors, 2003 Rudy Bruner Prize, 2006 and 2003
AIA COTE “Top Ten Green Building” Award and was a finalist for the World Habitat Award, one of 10 firms selected worldwide.
