The Roseville office of McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. is currently overseeing the site preparation phase for the $16.5 million construction of the Lincoln Public Library at Twelve Bridges, a joint effort among the city of Lincoln, Sierra Joint Community College District and Western Placer Unified School District.

The Auburn office of NTDStichler Architects is the design firm.

The library will be adjacent to the local community college and high school in Lincoln and will serve both campuses and the growing population of the greater Lincoln area.

Building construction of the two-story, 40,000-sq.-ft. facility is scheduled to begin in the first quarter with an expected completion next year.

The library will include a structural-steel frame with stained concrete surface. Celestorial glass will provide natural light throughout the facility. Pedestrian and bicycle access also will be made available from both campuses.

A surface parking lot will have spaces for approximately 1,150 vehicles.

The building will include two restaurants, a Swedish food market and administrative offices.

Ware Malcomb has designed two other IKEA stores in California-including one in East Palo Alto that opened in August 2003 and a store in Dublin that will open in several years.

The facility will consist of a two-story, wood-framed building with surface parking. Completion is slated for the middle of the year.

Other project stakeholders include Partners Planning and Engineers (civil engineer); McParlane & Associates (mechanical engineer); Prime Structural Engineers; and MPE Consulting (electrical engineer). Med-Pro Inc. is the medical design consultant and Ahles Landscape Architecture is the landscape architect.

WWCOT to Design Senior Center in San Fernando Valley

WWCOT, a Santa Monica-based architecture firm, has been selected by the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging to provide architectural and engineering services for a self-contained, senior living complex on JHA's Eisenberg campus in the San Fernando Valley.

The 150,233-sq.-ft., senior living complex will include 109 one- and two-bedroom condominiums ranging in size from 800 to 1,300 sq. ft. and a 48,708 sq.-ft. subterranean garage.
