The main building will include a gymnasium for basketball,
volleyball and badminton; banquet and multi-purpose rooms
with operable partitioning; and dedicated spaces for arts,
crafts, computer training and aerobics.
The senior center will feature a library, game room, computer
room, front counter, consultation rooms and administrative
offices.
Site development includes two soccer fields with synthetic
turf and four fast-pitch softball diamonds with synthetic
turf surfacing and lighting; basketball and sand volleyball
courts; an amphitheater with a capacity for 150; an interactive
water play area; picnic areas; disc golf area; dog park; and
jogging paths.
Offices for the city's administration staff will also be
included.
Off-site improvements include the widening of East Street
along the project frontage, a new bike/pedestrian path from
the site northward to the mall, a traffic signal at Road 24A
and utility extensions to the new project. Parking for 400
vehicles is also included.
Completion is scheduled for October 2006.

and no community center. The project had been in the works
for more than 20 years and was given the go ahead after the

Park LLC in Sacramento. The Metro Parkway and Elkhorn Boulevard

Airport. The project involves major infrastructure improvements,
including approximately 4 mi. of new roadway construction
for Metro Air Park-the initial development of approximately
1,900 acres of land near the airport and Interstate 5.
The scope of the work includes approximately 400,000 cu.
yds. of roadway excavation, 50,000 tons of asphalt concrete,

San Jose Day Nursery Set For Complete Makeover
San Jose-based TBI Construction & Construction Management
Inc. has embarked on an extensive remodeling project that
will restore and expand the functionality of the San Jose
Day Nursery, a classic, Spanish-style building built in 1936.
The $2.2-million project is slated for completion next spring.
Tectonics Architects, Engineers & Planners of San Francisco
is the project architect.
The North Eighth Street building, which has served the day
care and child education needs of thousands of San Jose families
for nearly 70 years, no longer met the nursery's high standards.
While the original structure is known for its quality construction,
its MEP and food service functions had become antiquated beyond
economical repair. Work will include the removal of lead and
asbestos, and improving earthquake resistance.

The 47-unit rental project, with two levels of underground
parking, is on the northwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard

awning, porte cochere and neon sign-from the former restaurant.
Floor plans will range from 650 to 1,450 sq. ft. Parking
will be on two subterranean levels.
The project is planned to open in early 2007.
