EDGE, Ehrlich Architects Attend Topping Off Event at UC Irvine

EDGE and UC Irvine celebrated a monumental “Topping Off” ceremony Dec. 1. Attendees were encouraged to sign a sacrificial beam. After signing the beam guests gathered on the balcony of Studio Four to watch the crane pick the beam and hoist into place.

The Arts Building consists of constructing approximately 60,000 sq ft on four stories over a basement level. The project is also classified as LEED silver, which EDGE can add to its list of LEED projects. EDGE and Steven Ehrlich Architects are the Design/Builder of the project.

The Arts Building will provide a combination of technology-driven instructional, research, performance, production support, academic and administrative office spaces. The needs of Drama (including Sound Design), Dance, Music, Studio Art, and Digital Arts are all met in the Arts Building. There is also an Entry Plaza to the north, a Lower Meditiation Court to the west and a Sculpture Court to the south of the Arts Building.

Drake (Chancellor), Alan Terricciano (Acting Dean), Eleanor Stewart (Assistant Dean), Jason Valdry (School of the Arts), Toby Weiner (School of the Arts), and others.  D&CS- Rebekah Gladson (Campus Arch.), Fran Porcella (Senior PM), Chris Seals (PM), Jim Henderson (Inspector), Vivian Lin-Ra and others.  Ehrlich Architects- Steven Ehrlich, Patricia Rhee, Bill Glaugh, Kal Benuska (Structural Engineer), Dean Reyes, and others.  EDGE- Al Calvet, Mark Stinnett, Rick Stewart and Wayne Roemhild.
