Suzman & Cole Design Associates is
Formed; San Francisco Firm Represents International Clientele
SAN FRANCISCO -- After many years of head-to-head competition,
with each of the firms building award-winning businesses,
Stephen Suzman and Todd R. Cole have joined forces as Suzman
& Cole Design Associates.
SCDA seeks to broaden its geographic base and to strengthen
its design presence in commercial/institutional, residential
and leisure markets. The core of the new SCDA will continue
to be designs that blend art, landscape architecture, horticulture
and attention to detail. The firm is known particularly for
its selection of materials: stone, metal, tile, plaster, wood
and concrete, along with its ability to source unusual specimen
plants and control plant quality, as well as custom design
of garden features.
During the last decade, Suzman Design Associates has built
a staff that includes landscape architects, planners and horticultural
specialists and designed many international landscape projects.
Suzman's design practice spans 20 and includes guest lecturing
and the publication of a number of articles. He sits on the
board of Art for Healing and The Women's Global Health Initiative.
Suzman's own garden was highlighted in the September 2002
issue of "7x7 Magazine."
For the last 13 years Cole has overseen a specialized practice
in the design of residential gardens throughout the mainland
and Hawaii. His focus has been on the technical competency
and craftsmanship of unique garden spaces for clients in Montana,
Palm Springs, Pebble Beach and Northern California. Prior
to developing his own practice, he spent 10 years involved
in urban design, community planning, housing and institutional
design projects for various firms in Denver, New York, Philadelphia
and Santa Barbara.
