SCS Relocating Long Beach Office

SCS Engineers, Long Beach -- which comprises the national corporate offices, SCS Engineers, SCS Field Services and SCS Energy - on Dec. 20 will relocate to new offices in the Long Beach Airport Complex at 3900 Kilroy Airport Way, Suite 100 .

Established in 1970, SCS Engineers, Long Beach, serves as the headquarters of a nationwide network of 35 offices with 450 professional staff members.

The new offices were designed to be environmentally responsible. since SCS Engineers' practice focuses on environmental protection measures. The design maximizes the use of natural light through the installation of sidelighting and interior glazing and incorporates motion sensors into all light fixtures. The new paint and adhesives emit low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to minimize air emissions and exposure to fumes. Many of the light fixtures, grid and ceiling tiles are reused.

The vinyl tile, carpet, conference room chairs and office chairs at SCS Engineers' new headquarters all contain recycled content. All old furniture from the company's former location is being handled by a furniture dealer for reuse to reduce the load on the country's waste disposal system.

In advance of its relocation, the company gradually has been scanning much of its paper documents for access via computers. This process reduces the need for office space to store papers and has enabled the firm to recycle tons of archived hard copy documents over the past six months.
