Fluor Corp. Receives Chinese Design Award

Aliso Viejo-based Fluor Corp.’s design work on the Roche Zhongya Citric Acid project in Wuxi, China, has earned the Excellent Design Prize, one of the Chinese chemical industry’s top awards, from the Society of Chemical Construction Companies of China and the Quality Evaluation Commission for Chemical Projects.

“We are delighted to be selected for this design award honor by the Chinese chemical industry,” said Harold Boman, vice president within Fluor’s industrial and infrastructure group. “Since 1978, Fluor has maintained a long-term presence in China with an execution platform that maximizes local resources, suppliers and subcontractors. We congratulate our subcontractor Nanjing Chemical Industry Construction Co. for their outstanding contribution on this project.”

Fluor recently completed engineering, procurement and construction services for Roche Zhongya’s new citric acid production facility, one of the largest of its kind in China. The $24.5 million facility included a new fermentation plant, citric acid refinery, product storage warehouse, raw materials unloading facility, storage facilities and infrastructure upgrades, which Fluor booked in the third quarter of 1999.

Anderson Receives Engineer of the Year/Land Development Award

The Orange County Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers has presented Mark Anderson, a senior vice president in Irvine-based RBF Consulting’s land development department, with the Land Development Engineer of the Year award.


Anderson has more 31 years of experience in large multi-disciplined projects, which have entailed planning, environmental, design and construction related services for a variety of market sectors.
He has worked on several high-profile projects such as Talega and Santiago Hills II, Aliso Viejo and Rancho de Los Alisos. He is recognized for his expertise in site feasibility analysis, grading design, storm water hydrology and hydraulics.

Anderson graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is currently a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a board member of the Orange County Building Industry Association and past president of the Orange County Chapter of Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors.
