AIA/L.A. Awards Gala Planned For October

The 2003 AIA/L.A. Awards Gala will be held Oct. 30 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles.

The black-tie-optional affair begins at 4 p.m. with an exclusive preview of the Walt Disney Concert Hall (with members of the building team on hand). A networking reception gets started at 5 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 6 o'clock. Dinner will be served after the program.

The 2003 AIA/LA Awards Gala Presidential Honorees include:

• California Heritage Award: Charles W. Moore, FAIA- posthumously
• Educator of the Year: Randall Wilson, Art Center College of Design
• City Rebuilder: CIM Group
• Presidential Citation: Excellence in the Service of Good Design: Robert F. Maguire III
• Service to our Community and the Profession: Jan Breidenbach, Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing
• Service to our Community and the Profession: David Abel, New Schools Better Neighborhoods
• 25-Year Award: Pacific Design Center by Cesar Pelli
• Building Team of the Year Award: Walt Disney Concert Hall, Frank 0. Gehry & Associates, design architect
• AIA/LA Gold Medal: Anthony J. Lumsden, FAIA
