California GC/CM Wins National Award
Douglas E. Barnhart Inc., a San Diego-based general contractor
and construction manager was recently recognized for its safety
performance record by the Washington, D.C-based National Safety
Council.
Barnhart was among 63 companies in the country that received
a 2005 Industry Leader Award, based on the North American
Industry Classification System. The Industry Leader Awards
are one component of the NSC's Occupational Award Program,
which recognizes outstanding safety achievements of NSC members.
The companies honored are among the top member participants
in the NSC awards program.
Established in 1983, Barnhart was the 14th largest general
contractor in California, based on 2004 revenue figures published
last April by California Construction magazine. The firm had
$450 million in revenue in 2004. >
Founded in 1913, The National Safety Council is a nonprofit,
non-governmental, international public service organization
dedicated to protecting life and promoting health. Members
of the NSC include more than 48,000 businesses, labor organizations,
schools, public agencies, private groups and individuals.
