Carter & Burgess Names Stanton LDM

SACRAMENTO—William Stanton Jr. has joined Carter & Burgess Inc., as manager of the firm’s Sacramento Land Development Unit. Stanton has more than 25 years of land development expertise, managing projects from the planning stages to final construction.

He comes to Carter & Burgess after 13 years with Sacramento-based MacKay & Somps Civil Engineering Inc., where he most recently served as senior project manager involved with master-planned communities in Fairfield, American Canyon and Vacaville.

Prior to his tenure with MacKay & Somps, Stanton owned and operated Stanton Engineering Inc., a 15-person engineering and surveying company, in McDonough, Ga. He also gained experience in structural design engineering and engineering services with several companies in Dallas and Houston, Tex.

 


Garcia Named Aviation Director

SAN FRANCISCO—T.Y Lin International, a San Francisco-based civil and structural engineering firm, has named Demetrio Garcia director of aviation business development. He will be based in the firm’s Chicago office.

Garcia was formerly a regional manager at United Airlines, where he managed real estate, properties and facilities for airports in Latin America, Europe and the United States.

 

He has more than 15 years of experience managing aviation projects. At T.Y. Lin, he will have responsibilities that include expansion of the firm’s national and international aviation services.


Sprinkle Joins SB Architects

SAN FRANCISCO—Thomas E. Sprinkle has joined SB Architects as a senior associate.

Sprinkle was most recently with Hornberger + Worstell and Ai, both in San Francisco.

He also has worked with the San Francisco offices of Roma Design Group and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.

Sprinkle has more than 15 years experience in the master planning and design of large-scale, mixed-use and hospitality projects around the world. His projects include mountain ski resorts, urban waterfront hotels, island resorts and large urban mixed-use developments.


Treat Named Business Developer for 2 Companies

SUNOL—Garden Art International and Valley Crest Tree Co. have appointed Mark Treat as business developer in northern California. Treat will be based in Sunol, the regional headquarters for Calabasas-based Valley Crest Tree Co.’s northern California operations.

Treat has more than 30 years experience in horticulture, working primarily with landscape contractors and garden centers. He was a district manager for 17 years for Color Spot Nurseries in northern California and Texas.


Curtis Joins Andregg as Principal

AUBURN—Christopher Curtis has joined Auburn-based Andregg Inc. as a principal. He is responsible for managing all projects using 3D laser scanning. Andregg provides surveying, mapping and geomatics services.

Curtis brings more than 15 years of experience in surveying and geomatics engineering on projects involving GPS control surveys for aerial photogrammetric mapping projects; as-built, topographic and precise-leveling, vertical-control surveys; hydrographic surveys and construction surveying.

His experience includes projects for the oil and gas, mining, water resources, transportation and site-development industries.


Jones Named Director of Engineering Development

SAN PEDRO—Stacey Jones, a registered engineer in California, has been appointed director of engineering development of the Port of Los Angeles. She was promoted from chief harbor engineer, a position she held for nearly four years.

Jones is now third highest in the port’s management ranks, behind the executive director and the chief operating officer. She is the first female director of engineering development in the port’s history.

Jones began her career at the port in 1981 as a student engineer and steadily worked her way up through the engineering ranks. She has overseen some of the largest developments at the port, including Pier 400 and the renovation of Berth 100. Two years ago, Jones was named Civic Leader of the Year by the National Association of Women Business Owners. In 1998, she was named Woman of the Year by the Los Angeles chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar.


Matt Adds 2 VPs

SANTA FE SPRINGS—Matt Construction has promoted Abe Massoudi (chief estimator) and Marvin D. Wheat (senior project manager) to the position of vice president.

Massoudi has 25 years of experience in all types of construction projects. He has a Master’s degree in construction management from Pacific Western University.

Wheat has 26 years of progressive experience in field supervision, estimating, scheduling, project management, contract negotiations and the development of administrative network strategies. He earned a dual Master’s degree in visual/environmental studies and economics from Harvard University.


Hall & Foreman Names Palermo Vice President

IRVINE—Hall & Foreman Inc., an engineering, land planning, surveying and landscape architecture firm, has appointed Alan Palermo as vice president/land development in its southcoast division.

He will oversee planning and development of the company’s commercial, retail, industrial and residential work in the Irvine office.

Palermo has been with Hall & Foreman Inc. for four years, progressing from engineer to business development/director of operations to this recent position. He has more than 17 years of professional civil engineering experience in California.

Palermo holds a Masters degree in business administration from USC.


English, Salamoff Promoted

IRVINE—Ware Malcomb, an architectural and interior design firm has promoted two staff members to project managers in its interiors group. Tiffany English moves up in the San Ramon office, while Melissa Salamoff advances in the Woodland Hills office.

English is responsible for managing various interiors projects, including tenant improvements, full-service interiors and facilities-oriented projects. Salamoff is responsible for managing various commercial office interiors projects and ongoing client accounts.

English has more than six years of interior architecture and design experience. She has been serving as vice president of communications of the International Interior Design Association,Northern California Chapter for two years.

Salamoff has experience with a wide variety of entertainment and commercial projects. She has managed accounts for clients Carr America and Transwestern Commercial Services.


Haskell Re-joins SCA

SAN DIEGO—Ned Haskell, a 15-year veteran of the San Diego architecture community, has re-joined Smith Consulting Architects as project manager. He served as an SCA job captain from 1996 to 1999.

Haskell was most recently a project manager for Pacific Cornerstone Architects.

Before that, he spent four years as draftsman and job captain for Rick Marrs Architects and three years as CAD manager and job captain for Turpit and Partners Architects.


Tucker Sadler Names 4 Associates

SAN DIEGO—Roger Hill, Laurie Fisher, Ramiro Hernandez and Katya Ramos have been named associates at San Diego-based Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architects.

Since joining the firm in 1999, Hill has served as senior designer on a wide variety of projects. He was honored with an Orchid Award and the Woodwork Institute’s Award for Excellence for renovations to the San Diego Museum of Art. Other notable commissions include master plans for the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack, the Miramar College Science and Technology Center and a number of projects and studies for Hilton Hotels and the Port of San Diego.

Fisher joined Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architects last year as designer/job captain and recently was promoted to director of the firm’s sustainable-design division. She is responsible for research, program development and project management. She has been involved in the design of the Helen Woodward Animal Center, the 33-story Park Towers residential building in East Village and the Boys & Girls’ Club Teen Center in Linda Vista.

Hernandez is managing the design of several schools in the San Diego Unified School District. He has 22 years of architectural experience, including 10 years in health-care facility design and construction in San Diego. Hernandez served as principal-in-charge for the design and construction of Sharp Hospital in Mazatlan, Mexico. He also served as part of the design team for the original San Diego Convention Center.

Ramos is working on Park Towers and the San Diego Unified’s Prop MM projects. She has 13 years of experience in the architecture industry. She served as project manager for the Ivy Glen Good House in Glendale, a recipient of the Historical Award from the National Register of Historical Buildings.
