Salisbury Named Director

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Paulette Kay Salisbury has been appointed a West Region Institute director by the Construction Specifications Institute Board. She replaced Tim Maliepaard, who resigned from the board in November.

Salisbury is an architectural representative with Pleasanton-based Paulette Salisbury & Associates. She has been a member of CSI for 18 years and belongs to the San Francisco chapter.

To become director, Salisbury went through a nomination, vote and ratification process in the CSI West Region.

Salisbury also was recently elected vice president of the West Region, which serves members in Hawaii, California and the Reno area of Nevada. In 1995, she served as president of the San Francisco Chapter. She also is a former member of the Institute Membership Committee.


Ware Malcomb Promotes Madani, Romero

IRVINE—Ware Malcomb, an Irvine-based architectural and interior design firm, has promoted Radwan Madani and Cesar Romero to project managers in the firm's commercial department.

Madani has six years of experience in architecture and has worked on a wide variety of commercial, industrial and retail projects.

Romero joined Ware Malcomb last year as a job captain. He has 17 years of experience in architecture and has worked on a variety of commercial and industrial projects.


Clark Construction Promotes Day

COSTA MESA—The Clark Construction Group Inc. recently promoted Jim Day to the position of project executive.

Day began his career with Bethesda, Md.-based Clark working on the General Mail Facility in Dulles, Va., and the National Maritime Intelligence Center in Suitland, Md.

In 1993, Day headed west with Clark to work on the Flamingo Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, the U.S. Court of Appeals renovation project in San Francisco and the award-winning San Francisco Civic Center. He then served as a senior project manager on the Garden of Champions Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Los Angeles City Hall Seismic Retrofit and a major mass-transit tunnel/station the San Diego State University.


Novo Construction Appoints New Director

MENLO PARK—Novo Construction, a Menlo Park-based general contracting company, has appointed Gary Wells as regional director of its new office in San Francisco.

Wells is responsible for managing the operations of the San Francisco office and overseeing its staff of project executives and project managers. He will also supervise the business development and administrative departments.

Wells is a 15-year veteran of the construction industry. Before joining Novo Construction, he was the director of marketing for another San Francisco-based commercial contractor, where he was in charge of obtaining new business. He formerly served as a commercial office broker, regional leasing manager for Heitman Properties and general manager and leasing director for Seagate Properties' San Francisco property.


Nibbi Promotes Grimmer; Hires 3

SAN FRANCISCO—Chris Grimmer, an assistant project manager with San Francisco-based Nibbi Bros.

since 1999, has been promoted to project manager. He is working on the residence hall project for Notre Dame.

Dave Viglierchio has joined Nibbi as a senior project manager working on the Easter Hill Neighborhood Revitalization in Richmond. The HOPE VI project is being developed by McCormack Baron Salazar and EM Johnson Interest.

Prior to joining Nibbi, Viglierchio, worked at San Jose-based Segue Construction. He has 20 years of construction experience.

Bobby Newdoll joins Nibbi as an assistant project manager. He is working on a residence hall for Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont.

Michelle Bennette joins Nibbi as a project engineer. She is working on the concrete superstructure for the Block 20 housing project at the Mission Bay campus of UC San Francisco. Bennette has nine years of experience as a project engineer, assistant project manager and project manager.


Butler Promoted to VP of Lowney Associates

OAKLAND—Lowney Associates, a geo-technical and environmental firm, has promoted senior principal geotechnical engineer C. Barry Butler to vice president.

He oversees the firm's Mountain View, Fairfield, Oakland, San Ramon and Fullerton geotechnical teams.

Butler has more than 18 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and has been a leader in Lowney's geotechnical group for almost eight years.


Isaacs Joins Anderson Brule as Managing Principal

SAN JOSE—Steven J. Isaacs has been appointed managing principal of San Jose-based Anderson Brulé Architects, an architecture, planning and interiors firm that specializes in the civic, educational, health care and custom residential markets.

Prior to joining Anderson Brulé, Isaacs was president of SmithGroup/California. He also was president of Stone Marraccini & Patterson and spent approximately 10 years at Bechtel Inc. He has 30 years of design firm leadership experience.
Isaacs has a master's degree in transportation planning and engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York.

Anderson Brulé is currently the architect on a number of civic and library projects in Northern California, such as Our House Youth Shelter, the Tully and Cambrian branch libraries in San Jose and Redwood Shores Community Library in Redwood City. Other recent significant projects include Martin Luther King Jr. Joint Library, Manley Hall at Notre Dame High School and Santa Clara County Valley Health Center in the East Valley.


Reed Named Director of Marketing for AIACC

SACRAMENTO—Lori Reed has been selected as director of marketing and communications for the American Institute of Architects California Council.

Reed was previously division director of marketing and communications with the California Dental Association. At AIACC, she oversees all aspects of communications, publications, Web-site development, public relations and marketing strategies.

Reed's community involvement includes volunteering for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Families First and the Rotary. She sits on the Boards of the ALS Association and American Women in Radio and Television.


Gee Joins HDR as VP

OAKLAND—Darlene K. Gee recently joined Omaha, Neb.-based HDR in the company's Oakland office. Gee is vice president/department manager for the Bay Area division.

She previously was a vice president at Jacobs Civil Inc. and has 25 years of experience in consulting engineering for public- and private-sector organizations. Most of Gee's experience has been in the San Francisco Bay Area working on the design and construction of major infrastructure improvements.

A registered professional civil engineer in California, Gee currently represents the Bay Area engineering industry on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission Advisory Board. She also is past president of the Golden Gate Branch of ASCE and a former member of ASCE's National Committee on Women and Diversity in Civil Engineering. She has an MBA from UC Berkeley.


Andregg Hires Riley, Buzzurro

AUBURN—Andregg Geomatics has hired Mark Riley and Alan Buzzurro. They have extensive experience with mapping and modeling services, including GIS and construction surveying.

Riley has managed mapping projects for the United Nations in Ethiopia and Eritrea and for Sacramento-based Space Imaging Inc. He has a master's degree from Colorado State University.

Buzzurro previously worked for Roseville-based MacKay & Somps Civil Engineers, where he coordinated engineering and survey crews for residential subdivision projects in Roseville and Lincoln. He has 19 years of construction surveying experience.
