Sacramento General Contractor Adds 4 Full-Time Employees
SACRAMENTO Walsh & Forster Inc., a Sacramento-based general
contractor, has added four full-time employees.
Tom Mitchell has been hired as a project superintendent,
Alan Kniffin as a project manager, Meagan Conklin as a project
administrator and Salena Chow as risk administrator.
Mitchell is Walsh & Forster's superintendent on the
R Street Market project in downtown Sacramento. He previously
was a project superintendent for Swinerton Builders in San
Diego and has 24 years of construction experience.
Kniffin, responsible for providing pre-construction and construction
services, spent the last 23 years as an operations manager,
project manager and superintendent at Howard S. Wright Construction
offices in Sacramento, Seattle and San Francisco. He has 25
years of industry experience.
Chow, responsible for insurance coordination, risk administration
duties and administrative support, previously worked as an
executive assistant for Oakland-based Aztec Consultants. She
has five years of experience in the insurance industry.
Conklin provides administrative support to projects and works
as a human resources and marketing assistant. She previously
was with Gateway Pacific in Sacramento.
Perry Peterson Joins HDR
OAKLANDPerry Petersen has joined the Oakland office of
HDR, a Minneapolis-based architectural, engineering and consulting
firm, as a senior construction project manager.
Petersen was previously a senior construction project manager
with Pasadena-based Jacobs. He has 30 years' experience serving
public agencies and private companies as a construction manager
and contractor in water and wastewater programs and projects.
Peterson has an MBA from Santa Clara University and is a
long-time member and chair of the San Bruno Planning Commission.
Richard Pollack & Associates Hires 5 Employees
SAN FRANCISCORichard Pollack & Associates, a San Francisco-based
interior architecture firm, has added David Link, Scott Clement,
Jason Wertz, Sharron Harper and Amy Jackson.
David Link is a senior associate and a senior project manager.
He previously held a senior-level position in the real estate
design and construction in the facilities department at Pleasanton-based
PeopleSoft Inc. Link's 20 years of design and management experience
includes projects for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., Hewlett-Packard,
Apple Computer Inc., Pacific Gas & Electric and Sybase.
Clement and Wertz are designers. Clement recently relocated
to the Bay Area from Poland, where he taught English for nearly
two years. Wertz is also new to the Bay Area, and most recently
worked for DMJM + Harris in its New Orleans office.
Harper is finance/human resources manager. She worked for
16 years in the finance department at Kubala Washatko Architects
in Wisconsin.
Jackson is a marketing coordinator. She previously held marketing
positions at the Providence, R.I., and San Francisco offices
of Gilbane Building Co. and at MBT Architecture in San Francisco.
Jackson earned a Master's Degree in English from the University
of Kentucky.
Steinberg Group Adds Business Development Director
SAN JOSEKirn R. Dovel, has joined Steinberg Group Architects,
a San Jose-based architectural, planning and design firm,
as director of business development. She is based in the firm's
Silicon Valley office.
Prior to joining Steinberg Group, Dovel led the international
marketing efforts for Perkins & Will, a Chicago-based
architect, and served as the public relations coordinator
for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP.
Dovel serves as a housing commissioner for the city of Cupertino.
She received a master's degree in architecture from the University
of Kansas.
Wadhwa Promoted at A&P
SAN FRANCISCOAjmani & Pamidi Inc., a San Francisco-based
mechanical and electrical engineering firm, has promoted Amit
Wadhwa to vice president.
He has been with the company for 10 years and has completed
a large number of prominent projects, including Moscone West
Convention Center and UCSF Mission Bay in San Francisco, and
the Federal Inspection Services building at San Jose International
Airport.
Nibbi's Lisa Roberts Is Certified
SAN FRANCISCOLisa Roberts, safety manager of San Francisco-based
Nibbi Bros. since 1999, is now a certified construction health
and safety technician. Roberts will continue to provide important
jobsite safety support and aid field management with worker
protection.
The certification is awarded to individuals who meet the
experience and/or education requirements. The certification
includes passing a four-hour examination.
The program is operated jointly by the American Board of
Industrial Hygiene and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals,
nationally recognized in the safety and health field.
Ratcliff Promotes 4
EMERYVILLERatcliff, an Emeryville-based architecture, planning
and interiors firm, has promoted Roger Hay to principal and
Cheryl Lentini, Steve McCollom and Tom Patterson to associate
principal.
Hay is currently developing design concepts for the headquarters
building of the American Cancer Society's California Division
in Oakland. He received master's degrees in architecture and
urban design from the University of Wisconsin.
Lentini's current projects include the master plans for
Golden Gate University in San Francisco and a student center
project for De La Salle High School in Concord. She also is
working on the design of Filippi Academic Hall at Saint Mary's
College of California in Moraga.
McCollom's current clients include Hartnell Community College
in Salinas, St. Mary's College and the American Cancer Society.
He leads Ratcliff's interiors practice in addition to serving
as the firm's director of marketing
Patterson is serving as project manager for the new Vista
Community College campus in Berkeley and the remodel and expansion
of John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
He has a master's degree in architecture from the University
of California, Berkeley.
Ware Malcomb Hires 4 Employees
IRVINEWare Malcomb, an architectural and interior design
firm, has added Rick Hallenbeck, Elisa Sohn and Jimmy Nhieu
to its corporate office in Irvine and James Terry to its San
Ramon office.
Hallenbeck is a project manager in the commercial department.
Prior to joining Ware Malcomb, Hallenbeck worked for BSW International.
He has about 25 years of experience in a wide variety of commercial
and residential projects.
Sohn is senior job captain in the commercial department.
Her eight years of experience includes work in the commercial
office, industrial and technology related markets. She received
a Master's in Architecture from the University of Michigan.
Nhieu is a job captain in the interiors department. His background
includes experience in commercial office, retail and residential
projects.
As a senior project architect, Terry is responsible for
managing operations and the largest clients for Ware Malcomb's
Northern California office.
He transferred from the firm's Denver office, where he worked
with such prominent clients as Catellus Development Corp.
and Trammell Crow Co.
Terry has about 22 years of architectural, design, management,
structural engineering and civil engineering experience. He
has managed a wide assortment of industrial, commercial office,
retail, multi-family, hotel, historic remodel and tenant improvement
projects.
CT Realty Promotes 2 Executives
NEWPORT BEACHCT Realty Corp., a Newport Beach-based real
estate investment and development firm, has promoted David
L. Ball and Raymond A. Polverini to senior vice president.
Ball becomes senior vice president of development, while
Polverini is senior vice president of multifamily properties.
Ball joined CT Realty as vice president of development in
1998. During his tenure at CT, he has directed the design,
development and construction of approximately 25 commercial
and industrial properties in California.
Prior to joining CT, Ball was president of IDM Corp. in Long
Beach, where he was responsible for the acquisition, design
and construction of $1.2 billion of real estate. Ball has
30 years of industry experience and is a licensed general
contractor and registered architect in California and Nevada.
Polverini joined CT Realty in 1998 as vice president of
multi-family properties. He has played a central role in guiding
the firm's multifamily investment activities through numerous
transactions that currently total more than 4,900 units valued
in excess of $500 million.
Prior to CT Realty, Polverini served as vice president of
sales and development for RSM Management Co., the developer
of the master-planned community of Rancho Santa Margarita,
which encompasses 600 acres of commercial use and 14,000 dwelling
units. Polverini has 25 years of experience in real estate
management and development in California.
Barnhart Hires 2 Vice Presidents
SAN DIEGOBarnhart Inc., a San Diego-based general contracting
and construction management firm. has added Dave Roach and
Dennis Walters. Both are vice presidents.
Roach IS principal-in-charge of the La Mesa Spring Valley
Unified School District and Fallbrook Elementary School District
modernization programs. He also is overseeing construction
for the Barnhart/Harris Inc. management of the Downey Unified
School District construction program. Other clients include
the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command.
Walters previously worked for the San Diego office of Nielsen
Dillingham Builders, where he managed labor relations and
enforced labor compliance procedures prior to AB 1506.
His current projects include Squires Belt headquarters, renovations
and additions for Ramona Unified School District, the Southwestern
College Student Center and University of California, San Diego,
Cal I2 Building.
He has 25 years of construction management experience and
has a quality control certification from the United States
Army Corps of Engineers.
