Bruce Russell Named Senior VP, Managing
Principal at Los Angeles Office of Carter & Burgess
Bruce Russell has been named a senior vice president and
managing principal for the Los Angeles office of Houston-based
Carter & Burgess.
Russell has held a variety of positions during his 19 years
with the firm, including senior posts on high-profile transportation
program. As managing principal, he will be charged with the
day-to-day operations of the local office.
Russell's most recent assignment was as project manager on
Carter & Burgess' general engineering consultant assignment
for the Dallas-Area Rapid Transit Phase 2 light-rail expansion
program. The $2.5 billion expansion will add 47 mi. of new
LRT lines and a new maintenance facility. In this role, he
led the GEC joint venture and managed more than 30 sub-consultant
team members. Other clients have included the Texas Department
of Transportation, the North Texas Tollway Authority, the
Fort Worth Transportation Authority, railroads, and many city,
county and private clients.
Russell is a registered professional civil engineer in California
and seven other states, a member of the American Council of
Engineering Companies, American Society of Civil Engineers,
Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering Honor Society), the National
Society of Professional Engineers and the Women's Transportation
Seminar.
J.R. Roberts Promotes Collin Nichols
Collin Nichols has been promoted to operations manager for
multifamily projects in Northern California by J.R. Roberts
Corp., a Citrus Heights-based general contractor.
Nichols has been with J.R. Roberts for 15 years and held
several positions on commercial and multifamily projects in
California.
David Tweedie, Pak-Mae Yip Promoted at
Beck Group
The Los Angeles office of the Dallas-based Beck Group recently
promoted two employees.
David Tweedie, a recent engineering graduate, was promoted
to senior project engineer. He has been with Beck for two
years and most recently was project engineer for the $17.3
million expansion of the Saticoy Operations Yard for the Ventura
County.
Pak-Mae Yip was promoted to project manager. She has 20 years
of interior design experience in the construction industry
and has held the positions of project engineer and project
administrator. She has worked on such projects as the Beverly
Hills Hotel and IBM facilities in West Hills, Carson, Cupertino,
Burlingame and San Mateo.
The Beck Group provides development, planning, architecture,
interior design and construction services.
Bill Pangelinan Joins Up Inc.
Up Inc., the San Diego-based urban residential development
division of La Jolla Pacific Development Group, has added
Bill Pangelinan as construction manger.
Pangelinan will oversee the construction of Deca, 301 University
and Monde, Up's residential projects in the city's Hillcrest
neighborhood.
He previously was vice president of construction for Pennsylvania-based
Genesis Health Ventures.
Brian Kite Joins Leo A Daly
The Los Angeles office of Chicago-based Leo A Daly has hired
Brian A. Kite as vice president and managing principal.
He will oversee client relations, business management and
development and the delivery of services.
He previously was studio director for Los Angeles-based Fields
Devereaux Architects and Engineers Inc., managing principal
for Pasadena-based MCG Architects Inc. and principal of his
own practice, Santa Monica-based Kite + Associates.
His projects include Ventura County Crime Lab Renovation,
Kaiser Permanente's Ontario Medical Center, Gilroy Joint-Use
Library, Neiman Marcus department stores, Great Mall of the
Bay Area and a 52-story mixed-use project nearing completion
in Shanghai, China.
McCarthy's Jeffrey Drake Joins SBE Board;
Robert Ward Promoted to Project Director
Jeffrey Drake, preconstruction director for the Northern
Pacific Division of McCarthy Building Co. Inc., was selected
to the board of directors of the Sacramento Builders' Exchange.
Drake will serve on the board for three years.
Separately, McCarthy promoted Robert Ward to project director
in the same division. Ward previously was a senior project
manager. He will be responsible for management of projects,
with a focus in the heath care sector. His high-profile projects
include the expansion of the Sacramento Convention Center,
the UC San Francisco Parnassus Services Seismic Replacement
Building and Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
Nikki Mayer Named Marketing Manager at
SGPA
San Diego-based SGPA Architects and Planning has hired Nikki
Mayer as marketing manager.
She previously held a similar position at NTDStichler, a
San Diego-based architecture firm.
Greg Bradshaw Joins HDR's Orange County Office
Greg Bradshaw joined the Lake Forest office of HDR, an architecture
and engineering firm, as a water section manager.
He also will be a technical resource on drinking water treatment
technologies and regulations for HDR clients in Southern California.
Bradshaw previously was the western division market leader
for drinking water projects at Camp Dresser & McKee Inc.
Marc Kersey Named VP of Clark Construction
Group
Clark Construction Group California has promoted Marc Kersey
to vice president. He will be based in the firm's Costa Mesa
office.
His new responsibilities include operations oversight and
broadened business development duties in the Los Angeles market.
Kersey oversaw design production and purchasing for the San
Francisco Civic Center project. He played a similar role on
the Capitol Area East End complex in Sacramento.
Ware Malcomb Adds 4 Employees, Promotes
Jay Todisco
Ware Malcomb, an Irvine-based architecture, planning and
interior design firm, has hired four employees in its corporate
Irvine office and promoted Jay Todisco to vive president.
Todisco will be based in the firm's San Ramon office, where
he will be responsible for corporate-wide business development.
In 2001, Todicso was named a principal and transferred from
Irvine to the San Ramon office.
Christine Cho joins Ware Malcomb as a job captain in the
interior design department.
Melinda Veregge is a new project manager in the commerical
department.
Nicole Bienkowski and Geovanny Mendoza join the firm as senior
job captains in the commercial department. Bienkowski received
a Master of Architecture degree from Texas A&M University.
Stephen Pare Promoted at Washington Group
International
Boise, Ida.-based Washington Group International Inc. has
named Stephen Paré as Southern California area manager
for its engineering, operations and management unit in Irvine.
He recently served as the company's project manager for the
Mission Valley East Light Rail construction management contract
in San Diego. Previous high-profile projects include the Trans
Alaska Pipeline Terminal Site and the Alameda Transportation
Corridor design-build project in Los Angeles.
Paré is a 31-year veteran of Washington Group. He
earned an MBA from Seattle University.
Barnhart Inc. Promotes Glen Farlow to General
Superintendent
Barnhart Inc., a San Diego-based general contractor and construction
manager, promoted 18-year employee Glen Farlow to general
superintendent in the general contracting division.
His major projects include Greak Oak High School in Temecula
and the San Diego Convention Center Sails Pavilion Enhancements.
