Alexander Named ORCO President and CEO
ORCO Construction Supply recently announced that Peter Alexander,
48, has been named president and chief executive officer.
Alexander, an operations and financial performance veteran,
has been consulting with the firm for four months.
Alexander takes over for Bill Kern, 49, who will remain active
by assisting ORCO in sales and business development initiatives.
Alexander brings 23 years of chief executive and senior management
experience in retail, distribution, technology, telecommunications,
health care and service firms to ORCO.
Before joining ORCO, Alexander served as president and/or
CEO of three public firms and two privately held firms, and
served as senior vice president of operations of a $4-billion
international division of GE Capital. He has managed distribution
businesses spanning 25 countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas,
and has integrated about 40 acquisitions across the globe.
Alexander holds an MBA from Pennsylvania State University.
Swinerton Board Elects Marks Chairman,
Re President
San Francisco-based Swinerton Inc.'s board of directors has
elected Gordon W. Marks chairman of the board and CEO, and
Mike Re president and chief administrative officer.
Marks becomes chairman following the death in September of
chairman Jim Gillette. Marks was previously president and
chief operating officer. He has held a variety of construction
management and leadership roles during his 38-year career
with Swinerton.
Michael Re, a 30-year veteran at Swinerton previously served
as executive vice president and CFO. Re has been an active
member of the Construction Financial Management Association
since 1985.
RRM Design Group Gains New Principal
Kirk Van Cleave, AIA, a 27-year veteran of the architecture
profession, has been named principal at San Luis Obispo-based
RRM Design Group. He is a co-leader for RRM's public safety
group.
"My master's thesis was a fire station taught by a disciple
of Mies Van der Rohe. The design and implementation of public
safety facilities remained a passion for me throughout my
career."
His current projects include Ripon City Hall and Police expansion;
Fresno prototype Fire Stations No. 15, 16, 17 and 19; Mountain
House Headquarters Station No. 1; and the Oakdale Community
Center & Plaza.
Van Cleave joined RRM in 1999 and focused his attention on
civic and public safety facilities.
Urie Named VP of Acquistions at Newland
Communities
Thom Urie has been named vice president of acquisitions for
the California division of San Diego-based Newland Communities.
He is responsible for acquiring developable land and master-planned
communities from Fresno to the Northern California border.
He is located at the company's regional office in Sacramento.
Urie joined Newland from homebuilder Aliso Viejo-based Shea
Homes, where he was land acquisition director.
He holds a juris doctorate from McGeorge School of Law in
Sacramento.
English Joins HDR
Christi English has joined Omaha, Neb.-based HDR as a west
region transportation marketing pursuit manager in the firm's
Oakland office.
Prior to joining HDR, English worked as a business development
manager for TY Lin International's big-bridge line. Her experience
also includes work on transit projects in both Texas and Chicago.
She has 13 years of experience in the A/E industry.
Windsor Mill Chooses Sitton for Sales Management
Post
Windsor Mill, a Windsor-based manufacturer of specialty lumber,
molding and millwork, has named Gregg Sitton as director of
sales operations.
Prior to joining Windsor Mill, Sitton was regional manager
of business development with Mount Prospect, Ill.-based Bosch
Tool Co.
Sitton also held positions as national sales trainer and
manager of marketing events.
Dean Joins Ware Malcomb
Ware Malcomb, an Irvine-based architecture, planning and
interior design firm, has hired A. Douglas Dean. He joins
the firm's San Diego office as senior project architect in
the commercial group.
Dean is a licensed architect in California and has about
28 years of experience in commercial architecture and project
management. He specializes in large-scale multi-purpose projects
and their execution throughout all stages of the process.
Haithcock Named President of Casper Co.
Bill Haithcock has been named president of Casper Co., a
21-year-old Spring Valley-based concrete sawing and demolition
company.
Haithcock, 46, joined Casper in 1987 at the age of 20.
He has 26 years of experience in the industry.
Dillon Appointed Director of Real Estate
Development at Wilson Cos.
Douglas Wilson Cos., a San Diego-based firm specializing
in real estate, problem resolution and specialized business
services, has appointed Michael Dillon as director of real
estate and development. He will work in the acquisitions department,
focusing on entitlements, purchasing and repositioning existing
properties. Additionally, he will provide his expertise with
problem resolution projects.
Dillon will also assist in opening operations at the Atlanta
office, which opened in October.
Dillon joins Wilson from Irvine-based TriMont Real Estate
Advisors Inc. in Irvine, where he served as assistant vice
president and asset manager and was responsible for managing
a portfolio of equity and debt assets for office, multifamily,
residential and industrial developments.
Before that, Dillon served as senior financial analyst at
TriMont's Atlanta office, where he managed a team of analysts,
prepared models on real estate assets and directly reported
requirements to the department.
Barnhart Promotes Gabey to Senior Project
Manager
San Diego-based Barnhart Inc. has promoted project manager
Martin Gabey to senior project manager.
He will assume senior project manager duties for the San
Dieguito Academy Media Center project for the San Dieguito
Union High School District.
Gabey joined Barnhart Inc. in 2003 and has about 20 years
of experience in construction.
