Matt Construction Shuffles Senior Management Team

Daniel A. Stafford, formerly vice president and senior project manager, has been promoted to vice president/director of operations. Thomas L. Andrews, formerly vice president/controller, was named chief financial officer.

Timothy McDonald has joined Matt Construction as vice president/director of human resources and Roger W. Fricke is the new chief estimator.

Stafford joined Matt Construction in 1994 as vice president and senior project manager. He has14 years of construction project management experience with such projects types as educational facilities, high-rise office buildings, retail stores and entertainment facilities.

Andrews joined Matt Construction in 1997 as assistant controller and was promoted to controller in 1998. Prior to joining Matt Construction, Andrews worked for Greystone Homes and Maginnis, Knechtel and McIntyre, a CPA firm.

McDonald previously served in similar capacities at Watson Pharmaceuticals, Sony Entertainment, Spelling Entertainment, Viacom, Pepsi-Cola and Price Waterhouse.

Fricke previously was a senior project manager at Opus Northwest in Portland. He also has been a project director at Howard S. Wright Construction Co.

Palley Named Cahill President

Chuck Palley is the new president of San Francisco-based Cahill Contractors Inc.

Palley had served as executive vice president of Cahill Contractors for the eight years, working on such residential projects as North Beach Housing in San Francisco, the Oakland Coliseum Gardens, and Mission Creek Housing at Fourth and Berry streets in San Francisco.

Chuck Lochtefeld, president of Cahill Contractors since 1997, now is vice chairman of the company. Jay Cahill remains CEO.

HMC Architects Expands K-12 Practice in San Diego

David K. Hughes, Ed.D. and Thomas W. Clark, AIA, have joined HMC Architects' San Diego office as vice president of educational planning and studio leader, respectively.

Hughes served in California public schools for 38 years as a public education teacher, site and district administrator and superintendent, He has participated in the planning and design process for several schools in Poway Unified School District and Escondido Union High School District.

Clark has 33 years of experience in designing and managing educational projects. He previously served as executive director of facilities and planning for the San Marcos Unified School District.

Broadway Mechanical Promotes Terwilliger

Kevin Terwilliger was promoted to executive vice president at Oakland-based Broadway Mechanical.

Terwilliger will be in charge of estimating, project management, detailing, purchasing, labor installation and subcontracting.

HGA Architects & Engineers Adds Two Senior Executives

Richard R. Tannahill, AIA, and David J. Gill, AIA, LEED-AP, have joined the Sacramento office of Minneapolis-based HGA Architects & Engineers.

Tannahill joins HGA as associate vice president and project manager. Gill, a senior associate and project designer, also joins HGA from Chong Partners.
