Are Your Projects Award Winners?

CALIFORNIA CONSTRUCTION PRESENTS BEST OF CALIFORNIA, an extensive, year-end profile of the most intriguing projects completed in the past year.

Best of California has established itself as the premiere showcase of a wide range of outstanding projects in the state. The award event honors the entire development, consultant, design and construction team. The winning project stories are read by more than 25,000 people in California's construction industry and seen by more than 50,000 on our Web site.

THIS DECEMBER, we will have at least 25 winners for projects representing a diverse mix of virtually every aspect of construction in California. New award categories this year: Project Manager of the Year/Owner, Project Architect of the Year, Project Manager of the Year/Consultant, Project Manager of the Year/Construction Manager or General Contractor, Project Manager of the Year/Specialty Contractor.

THE AWARD CEREMONIES will be held in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas at the end of the year. Winners will be encouraged to attend either event. Details on these events will be available after the winners are chosen.

TO ENTER BEST OF CALIFORNIA 2005, please complete the "required information" below and return in a Word document (no pdfs) with at least three images (mandatory) on the same CD by Aug. 22 to Paul Napolitano, Best of California 2005, McGraw-Hill Construction, 1333 So. Mayflower Avenue, 3rd floor, Monrovia, CA 91016.

There is no fee to enter and no limit to the number of projects and mages you submit. Any firm doing business in the construction industry in California may enter a project. Projects must be completed between Nov. 1, 2004, and Sept. 1, 2005. Projects of any size or construction cost may be entered and will be considered. Winners will be notified after Aug. 27.   • A brief description of the project's purpose, programming, major components, size, etc.
  • Essay: Please provide between 200 and 300 words that describes the major challenges of this project and what specific steps were taken to overcome the challenges to deliver the project on or ahead of schedule and within or under budget. The essay must be persuasive, passionate and include at least one testimonial from the owner that specifically illustrates the outstanding performance of the entire project team. Entries submitted by a project owner must have a testimonial from a project team member or an organization not affiliated with the project or an end user. Entries that do not include descriptions of how challenges were overcome and/or testimonials will not be considered.
